Why Arsenal will not finish in the top four this season

After watching the match against Manchester City on Sunday it is obvious that the team have so many problems both on and off the pitch that they will not finish in the top four this season. Not a chance! This means goodbye to the Champions League, and if the manager decides to give himself (never mind the fans) the punishment of failure in the Premier League for another two seasons by signing a new contract, hopefully it will mean goodbye to many of the players as well.

Arsenal will lose the Champions League money that they have coming in every year and will probably be playing in the much-loved Thursday nights Europa League, where in truth they probably belong, having proved to themselves and the fans that the Champions League is annually too big for them every year, season after season, when they get to the knockout stages of the competition.

Here is a list of the current players at the club and my verdict on them:

Petr Cech has seen his best days at Chelsea. Apparently, he was available to Arsene Wenger before he joined Chelsea at the height of his powers, but of course he had Manuel Almunia, and allowed him to get away (along with Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Yaya Toure, and many others).

David Ospina is a fairly decent goalie, but suffers from some bad decision making at times.

Mathieu Debuchy - is this guy still at Arsenal?

Kieran Gibbs has been at the club since 2004 and we haven’t come close to winning either the Premier League or Champions League with him in the side.

Per Mertesacker - the B.F.G. (Big Friendly German) which is exactly what's wrong, we don't need "friendly" we need some "monsters" on the pitch who can't stand losing.

Hector Bellerin is fast, but this season it seems that he is more interest in his hairband than defending.

Gabriel is not up to it. He always gets done in the big games.

Rob Holding. Can't judge him as we have not seen enough of him, but if buys like Igor Stepanovs in the past by Wenger are anything to go by then it's hard to see how Arsenal will challenge the bigger teams next season. Can't judge Holding yet though. He is probably there for the League Cup exit games, which will not do much for his confidence.

Shkodran Mustafi, well, let's give him another season.

Laurent Koscielny - at least has some heart. He is let down by poor defensive tactics, exposure, and a succession of poor partners. Injuries are now starting to get him.

If Nacho Monreal is a left-back then so is Barney Rubble from The Flintstones cartoon! Enough said there.

Carl Jenkinson, like Debuchy, is this guy still at Arsenal?

My verdict, this is the worst defence I have ever seen at Arsenal. Can't defend. Goals conceded speak for themselves. Terrible!

On to midfield…

Aaron Ramsey - Mr. I'm injured again. Had a couple of good seasons at the club. Wenger has liked Ramsey because of his 'statistics ratings' in the past. Those ratings are non-existent at the moment as he hardly ever plays anymore.

Francis Coquelin – Thierry Henry once called him a Policeman or a Detective. Maybe he is stuck on a case with Miss Marple somewhere because he doesn’t look like a footballer. Unnecessary yellow card 'nutter' that is always prone to being sent off.

Mesut Ozil - A waste of money. A waste of space. Well overrated. Pedestrian football. Should stick to sucking his thumb. Oh, I forgot, he did score a great goal once, against Ludogorets.

Granit Xhaka - the same as Coquelin, an unnecessary yellow card 'nutter' that is always prone to being sent off. Red cards galore. Doesn't know what has hit him playing in the Premier League. Wenger has a habit of buying Swiss superstars, remember Phillippe Senderos and Johan Djorou anybody? The solid Swiss defence that we once had? Couldn't win a bean but at least used to finish in the top four.

Mohamed Elneny - again, a good player, but not a "great" player. Another Wenger 'mediocre' buy.

Jack Wilshere - on loan and now playing every game for Bournemouth. Was always injured at Arsenal, why?

Jeff Reine-Adelaide - not seen enough of this youngster so can't judge. Of the few glimpses that I have seen in certain 'lower grade' matches he has the potential to be a fairly decent player in the future.

Santi Cazorla - the biggest miss for Arsenal. Injured and out all season.

Alex Iwobi - not the answer. He is a good player, but far from being "great". He is still young though and may prove himself yet.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - has heart, runs his guts out for the cause, but ultimately, under Wenger, proves himself not good enough to win titles. Mostly played out of position, and oh yeah, injury prone.

Theo Walcott - ultimately one of the biggest disappointments at Arsenal over the past decade. Football is not all about pace and speed. Also, nobody knows whether he is supposed to be a midfielder or a striker. Pure confusion is Walcott.

Although the midfield boasts speed and passing ability, no one has leadership qualities to lead this club to trophies, especially the Premier League title.

The forwards…

Alexis Sanchez - probably Arsenal's best player for heart and the mentality of winning. Tries and tries, but sometimes over does it and ends up running into trouble like a headless chicken. His passion is great though. If he was playing with a different set of players with the same "want to win" attitude, Arsenal would be much better. Can't see him staying at Arsenal for much longer as I can't see a wholesale change at Groundhog Day Arsenal Football club.

Olivier Giroud - you will not win the big titles with Giroud as your main striker, simple as.

Yaya Sanogo - another 'joke buy' by Wenger to pull the wool over the fans eyes. Spent more time out on loan than playing for Arsenal and for good reason by the looks of it. Crap.

Danny Welbeck - one of Arsenal's better players, and probably because he came from Manchester United, who always have that 'winning mentality' in them. Apparently, Wenger bought him by accident. Anyway, he came to Arsenal and turned into another injury experiment.

Lucas Perez - Never plays. What was the point of buying him?

The tea lady - under paid

Sorry if I missed anybody out.
